Byers

Like many other areas in Denver, Byers neighborhood established its name by honoring the closing of the William Byers School. Considered part of the West Wash Park neighborhood, Byers, like other subdivided neighborhood, has its own charm and character.

Architecture in this area doesn’t deviate much from surrounding areas like Wash Park, Congress Park and Cheesman Park with eclectic mixes of Bungalows, duplexes, Victorians and an increase of high rise apartments to the north of the neighborhood.

The latest architectural endeavor is Byers Place, located on the former Byers Middle School grounds. Sponsored by Denver City and West Wash Park Neighborhood Association, this project is said to be the thoughtful development of an “urban village’ with premier living.

Predominately residential, Byers neighborhood does share retail and commercial space within walking distance on the Broadway corridor. Fantastic restaurants, shops, retail space and the historical Mayan Theater are a major draw for residents.
