In 1896, the City of Highlands was annexed from Denver and became known as “North Denver.” As the area started to grow, sub neighborhoods began to establish themselves, Jefferson Park being one of them.
In the 1960s, there was a mass exodus of families from the city to the suburbs. Jefferson Park wasn’t the only neighborhood to suffer from this abandonment, it was happening all over the nation. However, since the early 1990s, great efforts have been made to restore the community.
